Michael Stone – 5 minute dharma series

Near the end of our Japan trip for the Reactor project, Michael Stone and I decided to shoot some short dharma talks on key concepts that are often misinterpreted. The two concepts are 1) the present moment, and 2) non-attachment.

Enjoy the series!

Ian – Thanks for the great talk in Victoria last night about crowd-funding.
    I enjoyed Michael’s briefing about non-attachment.

I had the great fortune to be at a weekend gathering in Duncan two years ago at which there were 7 lamas presenting, all of whom relied on translators to understand the questions and present their views. At one point, the topic of humour in yoga practice came up. Someone from the crowd said they had a joke to tell the lamas. It goes like this:
Q: Why can’t the lama use a vacuum cleaner?
    A: He has no attachments.
A corny joke to be sure.
The translators spent a full 20 minutes trying in vain to explain the joke to the lamas. Eventually, the interpreters gave up and we moved on to other questions and comments.
I’m glad Michael didn’t talk about vacuum cleaners.

    thanks, cheers, Bruce
